After two years of effort, the Alumni Association produced a unique documentary film on Wilson's history, from before the school opened in 1936 to the present. In addition to renewing memories of the particular period when a student attended the school, the DVD provides a broader familiarity with the Wilson community over the years. The 90-minute film is professionally narrated by Derek McGinty of ABC-TV Channel 7 Local News anchor ('77) and Susan Wingo. It includes over 800 images, beginning with Wilson's roots in the tiny hamlet of Tennallytown (Tenleytown), which sprang up after the Revolutionary War. It also features material on the school site at Fort Reno, a prominent military base during the Civil War. The DVD captures the school life of its students and faculty, decade by decade. In addition to academics and sports, the DVD highlights the fashions of each period, the rise and decline of organizations, traditions, dances, and other social activities.
Those interested in expanding their knowledge of Wilson High School may order the DVD using the form by clicking here or on the box at the left entitled "Membership Sign Up and Order Form." The $20 price includes shipping and handling. A special price of $17 will be offered to alumni who purchase the DVD at their reunion.
Our thanks to Damon Cordom ('50), with his writing skills, and Elizabeth Warner ('56), with her design skills, for making this DVD possible.
